  1. See many images of the houses on the canals of Amsterdam and the Netherlands! I
am Dutch of origin and lived in my younger years there. The beginning of my psychological studies I did in Amsterdam and then continued in Los Angeles.
When convenient check out the weekly All Seasons challenge (photo link is open from Sunday through Friday). The titles of the posts all begin with “All Seasons -….” It’s about the experience of the season, and beyond weather and landscape (like events, birthdays, holidays, whatever special experience…). What is cool is that the Australians are now in summer going into Fall, right now, while the Scandinavians have arctic temps. you are very welcome to join with a photo on the linky list! If you’re not sure how to do that, I’ll walk you through it:)

  2. I love this! He’s my age, so I can relate a little, though I didn’t go to Europe back then. I am off to Amsterdam in a month though, and some of these scenes haven’t changed. I love the film look, of course. And the fisherman, the goat….

  3. 1975 was high school graduation year for me, but being part of the post-hippie, post-Vietnam war generation, I didn’t necessarily acknowledge the event as a big milestone. I didn’t attend prom, buy the yearbook, or even go to my graduation ceremony. Is that sad?

My daughter is now in that same place, and I almost wish she would consider a gap year before going off to college. It is a lot to ask to forge a clear path to your future when so many things, inside and out, are yet to be revealed.

I can see the similarities between your photos and these photos from your father; it’s comforting to know you shared some of the same vision, don’t you think?

  4. 1975 is like some other planet. I was there, just nine years old, and it really does seem a far-off, other world, looking back. This is such a different world now, it almost feels like 1975 was real and all this now is science fiction. We had b&w televisions with just three channels that all closed down before midnight, playing the national anthem every night. Thanks for making me remember.
